Remembrance Mass -Joan Geofroy and Kenny Ramon-Fortune - June 13, 11:30 am

Remembrance Mass

Joan Geofroy (13 June 1925 - 16 March 2012)

Joan Angela Geofroy. Joan was steadfast in her faith all the days of her life. She prayed the rosary every day. She brought us all up in the faith and taught us to pray as well. Mum always encouraged us to pray as a family and said that a family that prays together stays together. .

Kenny Ramon-Fortune (8 March 1940 - 4 May 2020)

Kenny Ramon-Fortune, brother of Ronald and Arnold, loving husband of Shirley and father of Mary (d), Anthony, Sean, Dale, John (d), Nadia and Peter. He was a champion in every way possible. Kenny was always a fun-loving character. He had a deep love of God, his wife and his children. He shall be sorely missed. May his soul rest in peace.

Shirley has requested that family members say the rosary at 10 am on Saturday 13 for Kenny

May the souls of the faithful rest in Peace Amen

Liturgy of the Word

[Adrian]

Reading 1, First Kings 19:19-21

19 Leaving Mount Horeb, Elijah came on Elisha son of Shaphat as he was ploughing behind twelve yoke of oxen, he himself being with the twelfth. Elijah passed near to him and threw his cloak over him.

20 Elisha left his oxen and ran after Elijah. 'Let me kiss my father and mother, then I will follow you,' he said. Elijah answered, 'Go, go back; for have I done anything to you?'

21 Elisha turned away, took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He used the plough for cooking the oxen, then gave to his men who ate. He then rose and followed Elijah and became his servant.

This is the Word of the Lord.

[Roslyn]

Responsorial Psalm, Psalms 15:1-2, 5, 7-8, 9-10

Response: You are my inheritance, O Lord

Preserve me, God, I take refuge in you
I say to the Lord: 'You are my God.'
O Lord, it is you who are my portion and cup;
It is you yourself who are my prize.

I will bless the Lord who gives me counsel,
who even at night directs my heart
I keep the Lord ever in my sight;
since he is at my right hand , I shall stand firm

And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad;
even my body shall rest in safety
For you will not leave my soul among the dead;
not let your beloved know decay.

Gospel Acclamation

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

Open my eyes, O Lord, that I may consider
the wonders of your law.

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluja!

A Reading fro the Holy Gospel according to Matthew [5:33-37]

33 Jesus said to his disciples: 'You have learnt how it was said to our ancestors, You must not break your oath, but must fulfil your oaths to the Lord.

34 But I say this to you, do not swear at all, either by heaven, since that is God's throne;

35 or by earth, since that is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, since that is the city of the great King.

36 Do not swear by your own head either, since you cannot turn a single hair white or black.

37 All you need say is "Yes" if you mean yes, "No" if you mean no; anything more than this comes from the Evil One.

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

Prayers of the Faithful

At the end of each, we respond: Lord graciously hear us,

  • [Christine] We pray for Joan Geofroy: Heavenly Father, on the anniversary of her birth, we thank you for the gift of our earthly mother, Joan.  We thank you for her steadfast attention to all our needs, her unfailing and supportive love for her husband and her children and for her witness of faith which she taught us by quiet and constant example.  We ask that you grant her forgiveness for her sins and allow her to be part of Your Heavenly kingdom of perfect love, peace and joy. Lord hear us.
  • [Anon] We pray for the repose of the soul of Kenny Ramon-Fortune. Lord hear us.
  • [Nadia] We pray for families that they may truly live out the mission set for them. Lord hear us.
  • [Liz] We pray for the Holy Father, Pope Francis that he may continue to have strength as he leads the Church on the road of Peace, Understanding and Love in Jesus name. Lord hear us.
  • [Marilyn] We pray that we may soon have a respite  from the Corona Virus that is ravaging the planet. Lord hear us.
